Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 18, 2025
This privacy policy explains how Cold Defense manages your personal data and ensures your privacy when using our Chrome extension. Cold Defense is designed to help users block cold emails efficiently while maintaining transparency in our data practices. We are committed to protecting your personal information.
Data Collection & Use
At Cold Defense, we take your privacy extremely seriously. Our core principle is to minimize data collection.
We do not collect, share, sell, or transmit any of your email data. Our extension operates locally, meaning all filtering and blocking occur directly on your device. Cold Defense does not have a database, backend server, or any external servers for storing or processing your emails or other personal information. The extension processes email content only to identify and block unwanted messages, and this processing occurs locally within your browser. Any emails identified as cold emails remain within your inbox and are handled solely according to your existing email provider’s filtering rules and configurations.
Cold Defense does not modify or delete your emails.
Google API Usage
If Cold Defense integrates with Google services (e.g., Gmail API) to enhance email filtering, our use of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we will only use your data as required to provide the functionality of blocking emails as described. Any permissions requested will be solely for improving spam detection and user experience within Gmail. We will request the minimum necessary permissions to achieve these goals.
We will never store, access, or transmit your emails beyond your device, except as explicitly required to provide the functionality of the extension.
No Cookies Policy
Cold Defense does not use cookies within the Chrome extension or on our website. We prioritize a seamless and privacy-conscious experience without tracking or storing user behavior.
External Forms
Cold Defense may include external links within its website or extension interface. We advise reviewing the privacy policies of these external sites, as they are beyond our control.
User Rights
You have the right to:
- Request information about what, if any, personal data we might collect in the future. To reiterate, Cold Defense currently does not collect personal data.
- Request correction or deletion of any stored data. However, because we don‘t store your data, this right primarily applies to hypothetical situations where we might collect minimal data in the future (e.g., for crash reporting, as outlined below).
- Restrict or object to data processing.
- Request data portability where applicable.
While Cold Defense is designed to operate without collecting any personal information, in the future, we might collect limited, anonymized data for technical purposes, such as crash reporting or usage statistics. This would be used solely to improve the extension’s performance and stability. If we implement such collection, we will update this policy accordingly and provide clear opt–in options for users.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Our privacy policy may be updated periodically to reflect improvements in privacy practices or compliance with regulations. Changes will be posted on this page.
